The prosecution and Matthew Farwell’s defense will each get 90 minutes to make their final arguments to the jury.
Closing arguments are set for Friday morning in the federal trial for the former Stoughton police detective accused of killing Sandra Birchmore, a young pregnant woman.
The prosecution and Matthew Farwell’s defense will each get 90 minutes to make their final case to the jury. Chief US District Court Judge Denise J. Casper will then instruct them and let the panel of 10 men and six women begin its deliberations.
Farwell, 41, is accused of strangling Birchmore, 23, in her Canton apartment on Feb. 1, 2021, and then staging the scene to make it look like she killed herself. The prosecution alleges Farwell killed Birchmore to prevent her from revealing his alleged federal crimes.
