1. Krasner and Pollock: Past Continuous (Publisher: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 2026 )

A landmark exhibition deserves a spectacular catalog, and this volume, like the show it represents, delivers. The exhibition, open til late January at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, offers deep immersion in the works of Jackson Pollock his wife, Lee Krasner. She is less well-known, but the show puts her name first, with good reason. The couples’ paintings together tell a fraught story of creative and marital tension culminating in Pollock’s death in a drunken car accident in 1956. The book gives you all the images, and all the details in a dizzying collection of essays that explore their work and their lives every which way. It’s a narrative and aesthetic powderkeg bursting with one of the most important chapters in American cultural history.
