Shinsegae Department Store Unveils 3D Bear Christmas Display in Myeongdong LED facade showcases fantastical journey with Beethovens music, screening until January 31st

A large bear appeared in the middle of Myeongdong, Seoul. The bear moves as if it’s about to jump out of the screen, and fierce waves crash inside the transparent glass wall. On the 6th, about 40 days before Christmas, this year’s first Christmas video was displayed on the exterior wall of the Shinsegae Department Store Main Branch in Jung-gu, Seoul.

The video, first revealed at 5 p.m. that day, was screened through the ‘Shinsegae Square,’ a massive LED electronic display board installed on the department store’s exterior wall. It is a media facade that utilizes the building’s exterior wall as a giant screen. Since its installation in 2024, it has become a Christmas hotspot in downtown Seoul by presenting new videos every year-end.

This year’s video theme is ‘A Fantastical Journey to Deliver Christmas Wishes.’ A bear that guards a post office embarks on a journey carrying letters filled with people’s wishes. The bear arrives at an ice castle on a balloon ship and completes a Christmas tree. The 3-minute and 40-second journey concludes with the phrase ‘Send your Holiday Wishes’ (소원을 전하세요) alongside the tree illuminating the village.
