Democrat Letitia Plummer will succeed Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo to serve as the county’s next chief executive, becoming the first Black official to lead the nation's third largest county.
Plummer, a former Houston City Council member, comfortably defeated Republican Orlando Sanchez. She was among a slew of Democrats who won races across county government this year as part of what many analysts projected to be a wave year for Democrats in Harris County and across the country.
