Mistral has released the downloadable open weights for its trillion-parameter Large 4 model under a custom license, giving enterprises a new option for running and customizing a near-frontier AI model themselves. Independent tests now show that its biggest advances over the preview involve efficiency, lower costs and fewer fabricated answers, alongside a small increase in overall capability.
In its October 29 assessment, the independent evaluation firm Artificial Analysis gives ML4 at its high reasoning setting 26 points on Intelligence Index v5, up from 25 for the preview. That puts it one point above Muse Spark Open at xhigh, making ML4 the highest-scoring model with available weights developed outside China in that evaluation.
