Senate Democrats scored a few early wins in key races Tuesday night, according to The Associated Press, flipping the open seat in North Carolina and winning critical races in Georgia and New Hampshire.

Democrat Roy Cooper, the Tar Heel State’s battle-tested former governor who has never lost an election, extended his streak Tuesday by defeating Republican Michael Whatley. He becomes the first Democrat to win a Senate election in North Carolina since 2008.
