MLB All-Star's Ugly Digs At Abdul El-Sayed Prompt Pushback From Team

The once-celebrated slugger took a nasty swing at Michigan’s senator-elect.

The Toronto Blue Jays’ Anthony Santander, a 2024 All-Star and Silver Slugger award winner, bashed Michigan Sen.-elect Abdul El-Sayed in a pair of social media posts that caught the attention of his team.

The outfielder reshared the entries on his Instagram story this week with the messages “America voted for Sharia Last Night” and “Islam is not peaceful.”

El-Sayed, a Democrat, overcame Islamophobic fearmongering by President Donald Trump and others to defeat Republican Mike Rogers. He will become the first Muslim senator when he takes office in January.
