A hazardous material spill occurred on eastbound Interstate 20 and U.S. Highway 175 ramp near Balch Springs.

The eastbound Interstate 20 and U.S. Highway 175 ramp near Balch Springs is closed Monday afternoon following a spill. According to the Texas Department of Transportation, the ramp is closed due to a hazardous material spill that was detected at 12:41 p.m. on U.S. 175 and Silverado Drive. Emergency services are responding to the scene, and crews are working to clean the area. A vehicle is blocking traffic from exiting the ramp, and traffic is still moving. Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said a motor vehicle accident occurred and resulted in a diesel spill, and TxDOT will address the hazmat cleanup. TxDOT and Dallas police have not responded to immediate requests for comment. This is a developing story.
