When will Jermell Charlo fight again? Houston boxer returns in Dec. 12

Houston Chronicle · Matt Young ·

Jermell Charlo, who grew up in Alief and lives in the Houston area, will fight Brock Jarvis in the co-main event on the Erislandy Lara-Tim Tszyu card.

After more than three years off, Houston’s Jermell Charlo will make his return to the ring when he faces Brock Jarvis as the co-main event to the Erislandy Lara-Tim Tszyu middleweight title fight on Dec. 12 at Cbus Super Stadium in Queensland, Australia.

Charlo, who grew up in Alief and now lives and trains in the Houston area, was the undisputed champion at 154 pounds, but hasn’t fought since stepping up in weight all the way to 168 pounds and losing to Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez in Sept. 2023.

The 36-year-old Charlo (35-2-1, 19 KOs) will fight Jarvis at 160 pounds with eyes on possibly squaring off with Tszyu next in a fight that was supposed to happen in 2023 but was scrapped when Charlo broke his hand in training, and then he was given the more lucrative matchup against Canelo.
