Jurado Pitches Through Injury to Claim Korean Series Game 3 MVP Despite being hit by a line drive, Jurado pitched 7 innings, leading Samsung Lions to second consecutive title
Ariel Jurado, Panama, the 2026 Korean Series Game 3 MVP (Most Valuable Player) selected after the November 6 game at Daegu Lions Park, stated, “I’m grateful for the series MVP recognition, but I think my priority is to focus on doing my job in my position.”
Jurado started against KT, pitching 7 innings with 1 run allowed and 6 strikeouts, leading his team to its second consecutive Korean Series victory. Notably, he has appeared in three postseason games this year, delivering dominant pitching with an undefeated record. Former Doosan manager Lee Seung-yuop, a Samsung legend who threw the ceremonial first pitch that day, even mentioned Jurado as a potential series MVP. Jurado responded, “I’m deeply thankful for Lee Seung-yuop’s evaluation, but that’s not my goal. Ultimately, I believe winning the championship will naturally follow.”
Jurado struggled with a shoulder injury this year and failed to reach 10 wins (9 wins) for the first time since joining the Korean league in 2023. His earned run average (3.54) was also his highest. He explained, “Last year, including the postseason, I pitched nearly 220 innings, and participating in the WBC (World Baseball Classic) left my arm fatigued. Still, I feel those issues are behind me now, and I’m solely focused on contributing to the team’s victory.”
