Boston rain forecast: Long-awaited rain drenches Massachusetts
The Boston Globe · Ken Mahan ·
Here's where the heaviest rain and flood risks are forecast in New England after the region experienced the longest dry stretch of the year.
After the longest dry stretch of 2026, Friday will see two weather systems unleash a slog of steady rain with isolated downpours and rounds of thunder across Boston, Southeastern Massachusetts, and Rhode Island all-day before tapering off early Saturday morning.
Overall, Greater Boston and areas along I-95 are in line to pick up a much-needed 1 to 3 inches of rain, though some areas could potentially see more of a drenching, around a month’s worth of rain as periods of heavy rain push through the region.
