Seoul National University Expands Joint Degrees Domestically
Seoul National University (SNU) will expand its joint and dual degree programs, previously operated with overseas universities, to include domestic institutions. As a result, students from other South Korean universities are expected to be eligible for SNU-named degrees upon completing jointly operated curricula.
The SNU Council of Deans deliberated on amendments to academic regulations during its 13th meeting on October 22. The revised regulations state, “The scope of joint educational programs for awarding joint and dual degrees will be expanded from existing foreign universities to include graduate programs at domestic universities.”
A joint degree program awards a degree under the names of both universities to students who fulfill the requirements of both institutions. A dual degree program grants separate degrees from SNU and the partner university after completing both curricula. Consequently, domestic graduate students meeting the criteria will now be eligible for SNU-named degrees.
