Moody’s lifts Genmab outlook to positive on pipeline progress, debt reduction

Investing.com -- Moody’s Ratings affirmed Genmab AS (NASDAQ:GMAB) corporate family rating at Ba2 on Friday while revising its outlook to positive from stable, signaling potential upward momentum as the Danish biotechnology company prepares for a crucial pipeline transition. The action reflects expectations that accelerating double-digit revenue expansion and steady balance sheet repair will strengthen the company's credit metrics over the next 12 to 18 months.

The improved outlook is underpinned by operational leverage, with Moody’s projecting adjusted EBITDA to climb to between $1.5 billion and $1.7 billion, up from $1.3 billion in 2025. That earnings growth should outpace operating expenditures as late-stage clinical programs mature and top-line gains from lymphoma therapy EPKINLY and core multiple myeloma treatment Darzalex absorb rollout expenses for next-generation assets.

Those operational cash flows are expected to directly support management's post-M&A balance sheet cleanup following its 2025 purchase of Merus N.V. With anticipated free cash flow running near $800 million annually, Moody’s expects adjusted gross leverage to fall to around 3.0x by year-end 2027 as Genmab prioritizes debt reduction over shareholder distributions.
