Karl Bushby, 57, was greeted by cheering crowds as he arrived in Hull following a 31,000-mile journey.

An adventurer who left Hull on a mission to become the first person to walk around the world has finally returned to his home city 28 years later.

Karl Bushby was greeted by cheering crowds as he arrived on foot at Hull's Victoria Square on Monday morning following a 31,000-mile journey.

The now 57-year-old told them: "There has never been a welcome home like this I'm sure. This is absolute madness.
