ICE detained 23-year-old Colombian asylum seeker and UC Berkeley student Paula Albornoz Hernandez at San Francisco International Airport.

Lawyers are scrambling to free a 23-year-old Colombian asylum seeker and UC Berkeley student after she was detained by ICE Friday while waiting to board a flight to Portland.

Paula Albornoz Hernandez is currently in detention in California City Detention Center in Kern County, her lawyers confirmed.

Hernandez’s boyfriend, who asked only to be identified by his first name, Anthony, said he’d planned the trip because he wanted to treat Hernandez to a weekend getaway.
