A prime opportunity for Chow and Bradford to show what leadership looks like

Jake Ross’ article is a sad commentary on city bylaw officers who couldn’t see the forest through the trees. However, the point I’d like to address are the political statements made by Olivia Chow and Brad Bradford. What would be much more outstanding and meritorious is for Mayor Chow to forgive the fines and educate all bylaw officers about the difference between the letter of the law and the spirit of the law. Another alternative would be for Chow and Bradford to each pony up $300 measly dollars and pay those fines, and then for each to kick in a few thousand to those restaurants to continue to feed the poor. That’s what I feel a mayoral leader should do — lead by example while addressing the larger systemic issues that lead to hunger and homelessness.
