Kim Yo-jong, director of the General Affairs Department of the Workers' Party of North Korea, said on the 22nd, targeting Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Kim Byung-joo, “A minnow-like individual is irresponsibly babbling,” and added, “Our new response measures will enter a standby status along the entire border.” No specific details were provided about what the new response measures entail. Kim Yo-jong reiterated plans to resume loudspeaker broadcasts toward South Korea, stating, “Our loudspeakers targeting South Korea will also enter a standby state within days,” following her remarks the previous day.
The Korean Central News Agency reported that Kim Yo-jong issued another warning at dawn on the 22nd in response to “a certain individual, the National Security Office special advisor to Cheong Wa Dae, who made presumptuous remarks on the 21st.” The previous day, Kim Byung-joo had criticized Kim Yo-jong’s prior warning about resuming loudspeaker broadcasts as “audacious and shameless,” demanding an apology.
Kim Yo-jong stated, “I have dealt with the Moon Jae-in and Yoon Suk-yeol administrations, but I have never seen such foolish and pathetic individuals as those riding on the cart of the current government,” and added, “The officials at Cheong Wa Dae and the government are all alike—stereotypically foolish and incompetent.” She continued, “We can read the vulnerabilities and immaturity of the Lee Jae Myung government,” and warned, “The so-called National Security Office special advisor to Cheong Wa Dae should stop babbling nonsense and shut his mouth immediately.” She further remarked, “If one were to use the term ‘audacious and shameless,’ it would apply to those who shout about provocation while firing guns at people who have not fired a single shot. It is truly disgusting to respond to such nonsense, but I once again state this in accordance with my mandate,” implying the remarks were made under the directive of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
