China's digital drive delivers inclusive gains to people-
HANGZHOU, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- For one minute on the main stage of the 2026 World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit in east China, a young man played a gentle piano piece that few realized was performed via a neurally controlled bionic hand, the fruit of a decade of research and development.
The performer, surnamed Shi, lost his right hand in an accident at age 12. This year, he was fitted with the bionic hand developed by brain-computer interface (BCI) company BrainCo.
"The hand enables independent finger movement through intuitive, low-latency control for precise two-handed piano play," said Shi, whose robotic hand features a human-like covering, at the summit held Nov. 2-5.
