The Korean Central News Agency reported on the 21st that Pak Jong-chon visited the southern border fortification construction site the previous day with Ri Il-hwan, secretary of the Workers’ Party Central Committee, Kim Yo-jong, and key commanders of the General Staff of the Korean People’s Army. According to the report, Pak Jong-chon inspected the “status of blockade construction for permanent border fortification” and encouraged troops engaged in strengthening the border.

Pak Jong-chon stated, “The rabble before our eyes is attempting to use our military’s blockade construction—part of normal border-strengthening efforts—as a pretext for provocation.” He added, “Their claims of our soldiers ‘crossing the border’ are intentional and calculated fabrications aimed at shifting blame for escalating tensions to us.” He emphasized, “No one knows the extent of our nation’s border more than our military, and we are doing what we must on our own land.”
