Gopax Suspends Services Following Hacking Incident Exchange pauses trading, withdrawals after data leak and hacking threat
Virtual asset exchange Gopax suspended virtual asset deposit and withdrawal services starting at 2:55 p.m. on the 6th and temporarily halted trading services from 3:53 p.m. due to a recent customer data leak and hacking incident. All held virtual assets were transferred to internet-isolated cold wallets (Cold Wallet).
Gopax stated it took preemptive measures to protect user assets after receiving a threatening email from a group claiming responsibility for the hacking. Withdrawals were paused on the web or application (app), and customers wishing to withdraw must apply through the support center. Withdrawal requests will be processed manually in sequence after internal verification and approval. Existing unfilled orders were canceled due to the trading service suspension.
Gopax previously reported abnormal access to some user accounts in September, resulting in the leakage of information belonging to 7 people, customers, and 2 people, current and former employees. The connection between this hacking threat email and the personal data leak remains unconfirmed.
