LONDON, November 5. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump may step up pressure on Kiev after the US midterm elections in an effort to bring the Ukrainian conflict to an end more quickly, a columnist for the British newspaper The Telegraph wrote.
"Despite occasionally being swayed by European leaders, Trump’s settled instinct is that the fastest route to peace is for Ukraine to be bullied into surrendering and for the US to normalise relations with Vladimir Putin’s Russia," the article published said.
At the same time, the columnist notes that Trump will not have sufficient freedom to make decisions if the Democrats hold a majority of seats in both the Senate and the House of Representatives, since the toughest anti-Russian sanctions can only be lifted by the US Congress. Moreover, the columnist writes that "Europe is shielding Vladimir Zelensky from American pressure by supplying Ukraine with money and weapons."
