Olivia Rodrigo’s new Christmas song is inspired by 80s band The Waitresses

Butler led the 1980s new wave band The Waitresses, who were best known for songs including I Know What Boys Like and Christmas Wrapping.

Musician Christopher Butler has told of his shock after learning that Olivia Rodrigo used one of his songs as inspiration for her new festive track Take Me Home (4 Christmas).

Butler led the 1980s new wave band The Waitresses, who were best known for songs including I Know What Boys Like and Christmas Wrapping.

Rodrigo, a fan of the band, appears to have been inspired by Christmas Wrapping as her song has a noticeably similar beat and she also uses a comparable vocal style to the one heard on the 1981 song.
