Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) launched her campaign to return as top Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee Friday. After 13 years leading panel Democrats, Waters promised to make a series of changes that could significantly alter the committee’s function, as well as its name.

“It has never been more important to have a proven, effective and innovative leader on the Committee on Financial Services to fight back,” Waters wrote. “I am that leader, and I respectfully ask for your support.”
