Mega Coffee, Godo Partners Vie for Haetae HTB Acquisition 300 Billion Won Sale: MGC Global Aims Distribution, Godo Partners Focuses on Overseas Expansion

The acquisition battle for Haetae HTB, renowned for producing ‘Podobongbong’ and ‘Coco Farm,’ has solidified into a showdown between strategic investors (SI) and financial investors (FI). MGC Global, the operator of the low-cost coffee franchise Mega Coffee, and Godo Partners, a newly established private equity fund (PEF) operator, both participated in the final bidding.

According to the investment banking (IB) industry on November 6, LG H&H and Samjong KPMG confirmed that both MGC Global and Godo Partners—previously listed as qualified acquisition candidates (shortlist)—had participated in the final bidding for Haetae HTB, which closed on the same day. Samjong KPMG, the lead manager for the Haetae HTB sale, began the process in July.

The sale target is LG H&H’s 100% stake in Haetae HTB. LG H&H is pushing for the sale as part of its strategy to streamline low-profit assets and strengthen its core cosmetics business. The market estimates the sale price to be around 300 billion Korean won.
