The lucrative offer to Panthers superstar Nathan Cleary comes after his NRL future became a lot clearer following reports on Thursday.

Cleary reportedly could have earned $8.4 million tax free had he agreed to join the PNG Chiefs for their first NRL season in 2028. The structure of the deal was $2m per season across three seasons, as well as $800,000 per-season in third-party endorsement deals. But reports on Wednesday revealed he has told the Chiefs his intention to re-sign with the Panthers - a contract that is said to be woth $1.7m per season. However, he will only see approximately $969,000 per season after tax. (Photo by Getty Images)

One man who appears on the move come November 1, is boom centre Herbie Farnworth. The NRL’s premier centre is top of the Roosters list and is understood to have agreed to join the premiers from 2028. The Roosters have plenty of room in the salary cap to sign Farnworth after farewelling Mark Nawaqanitawase, Daly Cherry-Evans, Angus Crichton, Connor Watson, Daniel Tupou and Spencer Leniu. News.com.au understands the Roosters see Farnworth as a potential long-term fullback and have him at the top of their November 1 list. (Photo by Chris Hyde/Getty Images)

Herbie Farnworth has been heavily linked with a move from the Dolphins to the Roosters from 2028 as a longterm replacement for James Tedesco. He was spotted chatting to and shaking hands with Roosters coach Trent Robinson on the sidelines of the Rugby League World Cup, which will do little to silence rumours that it's already a done deal.
