A southbound stretch of Highway 101 along Hospital Curve in San Francisco will close this weekend. Here’s how to get around.

A key stretch of Highway 101 will again come to an abrupt end in San Francisco’s Mission District this weekend, when Caltrans closes all four southbound lanes for repaving.

The latest installment of the road rehabilitation project along Hospital Curve begins at 11 p.m. Friday and is set to last until 6 a.m. Monday. Drivers will lose access to on-ramps at Fourth, Seventh, and 10th streets, as well as the connector from westbound Interstate 80 to Highway 101 north.

While the actual construction zone will stretch from 17th to Cesar Chavez streets, detours will start at Fifth Street in SoMa, affecting any motorist headed from the Bay Bridge toward the Peninsula or San Francisco International Airport. Caltrans officials have put together an intricate map to divert drivers onto Interstate 280 or down Harrison Street and Potrero Avenue, the easiest routes to bypass the closure.
