Disgraced Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was pocketing up to £2,000 a month subletting cottages at his former Royal Lodge home, despite paying a peppercorn rent, the public spending watchdog has been told.

The figures came to light after the the influential Public Accounts Committee (PAC) launched an inquiry into both the Crown Estate and properties managed by the Royal Household.
