Moath Hamzeh, vice-chair of UK charity Sun of Freedom, says the Home Office revoked his travel authorization shortly before he was due to speak at a London fundraiser.
Palestinian-American activist Moath Hamzeh, a trustee and vice-chair of the UK-registered charity Sun of Freedom, announced on Wednesday that he has been banned from entering the UK after the Home Office revoked his Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) allegedly on the grounds that his presence would not be “conducive to the public good.”
Hamzeh is a Palestinian-American activist based in Jersey City, New Jersey. He was appointed as a trustee of Sun of Freedom in October 2024 and serves as the organization’s director of development and vice-chair. The charity was registered as a charitable incorporated organization in the UK in January. Its registered mandate focuses on relieving financial hardship and providing humanitarian relief to displaced Palestinians in the Palestinian territories.
Hamzeh was scheduled to travel to London to speak at a fundraising event for Sun of Freedom on November 6, as well as a documentary screening at Palestine House on November 14.
