Kraków, one of Europe’s most popular tourist destinations, was rocked by a shooting in its historic city centre on November 7. Police say a 24-year-old suspect drove into a public square and opened fire on people at random, sending terrified crowds fleeing into nearby cafés and restaurants. The suspect was reportedly armed with an AR-15-style rifle and was arrested after an exchange of fire with police. Authorities say firearms and ammunition were also found in his vehicle. But the investigation took a chilling turn when three additional bodies were discovered at the suspect’s home in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski. Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the victims were two women and one man, believed to be members of the suspect’s immediate family.
